Ali says “Together with the support of CITO, BHHPA and Weymouth College we have managed to secure NVQ training for lots of our staff, and while some of the seasonal staff don’t stay with us for long we try to encourage them to undertake some sort of training while they are here to help them with their future careers.”
“We are very lucky to be able to offer young people experience in working in a busy environment – we have quite a few university students that have started as weekend till workers while they are at school returning every summer to become experienced senior staff members. Jan Ellicott who is responsible for staff training at the park has a very good system of training and developing staff and is always keen to help youngsters to improve their skills and broaden their experience.”
“We have so many different skill requirements on the park, ranging from stock and product knowledge in our large camping accessories shop, catering and bar in The Old Barn, reception, bookings and check-in, to play park supervision in the evenings and not forgetting the housekeeping and cleaning who are on the go the whole day long and of course the grounds keeping and maintenance staff who deal with all manner of challenges during their working day.”
